Celebrating Nature's Bounty with Evesham Gold

My house is gradually falling into Fall this year. Before I go Full Out Fall in the dining room I am going to share a table with Royal Worcester Evesham Gold. I have blogged about this pattern several times before. CLICK HERE for a few examples.
Evesham china is decorated with fruits and vegetables, so it is especially appropriate for a harvest- time table!

I started with a white tablecloth and gold chargers and then added the dinner plates, silverware and gold napkins with white porcelain napkin rings.

I used clear Fostoria Water Glasses and green Imperial Goblets.

On top of the dinner plates, I added one of my newest eBay acquisitions, 6 cream soup cups and saucers. These were items I had seen in the 1980's in the Shannon Airport Shop Catalog, but never in person and I never imagined I could ever buy them! I found a lot of 6 in mint condition and had no one bid against me!

Plums on one side...

Peach and berries on the other!

This table also allows my to display a few of the many serving pieces I own.

I love this oval covered butter dish with corn.....

 and lemons and berries!

And this is the cutest mustard/jam pot

with cherries on one side and apples on the other - and notice my salt and pepper shakers also!

Another good thing about this china is that a bowl of fruit is always an appropriate centerpiece!

I hope you are enjoying this preFall season!
I will be sharing this table at Between Naps on the Porch and Rustic & Refined!

A Sneak Peak at My New Kitchen

My kitchen is almost finished as well as my butler's pantry and my sunroom only needs painting and a new ceiling fan. But I really don't have everything back in place yet and don't want to give too much away until I can do a full reveal!

But fall is my favorite season and not being able to fully deck my house out for fall is really getting to me!!! SO, I falled up a section of the kitchen and want to share that today!

When you walk into my kitchen on the back wall (where the washer and dryer were) are upper cabinets with glass doors above lower cabinets. On the left is the door for the new Laundry Room (formerly known as the Mud Room) and on the other side is a window (which makes it hard to take pictures), Here it is...

As you can see, I went with a brownish red called "Cinnamon Stick" for our newly plastered kitchen walls with off-white all new cabinets and cherry butcherblock countertops. My floors are the original pine which was covered by LOTS of layers of linoleum. These are the only glass front cabinets in the kitchen. I need to hide my stuff in the rest! But in these I have lots of my Evesham china on display.

I still love this pattern as much as when I picked it out when I got married! You can read my post about it HERE.

Now to the Fall Decorations!

I added a few fall tea towels and a wire turkey full of fruit. Then a pumpkin cheeseboard and a new favorite platter - Woodland Turkey by Spode. I actually got this for my birthday in February along with a chip and dip and gravy boat and stand all in the Woodland Turkey pattern.  As you can see I look forward to fall all year long!

Next is an off-white turkey from Walmart. I had actually made a vow last year not to buy any more ceramic pumpkins, but now that I have a new off-white kitchen I NEEDED it, right? Also the little gold stemmed pumpkin from Target.

Lastly, I put out my Spode Woodland Pie Bird. Isn't he cute?

Well, here's hoping that your fall is going great! I hope you have enjoyed the sneak peak of the kitchen. Just another peak before I go!

I love the beadboard sides of my cabinets!

I will be joining Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Evesham Gold - My Wedding China

Last week I mentioned that I already had a full service for 12 of Formal China before I got married. You can see that china HERE. So when I got engaged, my mother and I went to Wagoner's Jewelry Store to pick my patterns. She told me not to pick another formal pattern, but just pick a nice everyday pattern. I chose Royal Worcester Evesham and my fiancé approved.

Royal Worcester introduced the Evesham pattern in 1961. My mother started getting pieces of this in the late 60's/early 70's, so it was a pattern I was very familiar with. The pieces are covered with fruits and vegetables, and it is named after a town and township in central England which is known for market farming.

In 1982, I thought this would be a great everyday pattern - pretty, but not too fussy or fancy. But, notice the gold rim? I had no idea what was about to hit kitchens all over America!

That's right - Microwaves!

And as we all know, you can't microwave plates or mugs with gold on them! Once I got a microwave, I used plastic or glass dishes to microwave on and put the food on the Evesham plates. My girls grew up knowing these rules and we never had a problem.
Royal Worcester introduced a new type of Evesham called Evesham Vale which had a green, mircrowave-safe rim. So, the Evesham I had was renamed Evesham Gold.

One of the things I have always loved about this pattern is that it was available on lots of serving pieces. And since I was from a small town and had a big wedding I got LOTS of serving pieces which have graced my corner cabinets through the years!

Here is a picture of several serving pieces on my buffet. Notice the ears of corn on the Bean Pot.

And here is the smaller quiche dish

I love that each piece has a different combination of fruits and vegetables.

After 20 years of marriage, I picked a new microwave-safe everyday pattern, Pink Tower, which I blogged about HERE. But my older daughter tells me it always makes her happy to eat on Evesham since it reminds her of her childhood!

Tablescape Thursday 5/20/09

For this Tablescape Thursday sponsored by Susan at BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH, I am featuring my mother's birthday party from last August.

Be sure and visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch by clicking the picture below. There are always lots of great tables to ooh and ahh over!!!

My mother's birthday was in August which is why this table has a summery feel to it.

On my green tablecloth, I have Evesham china, which I picked out when I got married and not-so-coincidentally my mother also has. I found some Vera Bradley napkins on clearance and bought them, but since I didn't have enough I alternated between pink and Vera. I used watermelon napkin rings and grocery store flowery with citrus around the vase.

Here is the "kid's" table. Really it is not for the kids, just overflow. I didn't have any Vera napkins or watermelon napkins rings by this time, so I used pink napkins and dragon-fly napkin rings and pewter goblets instead of glass.

I hope you enjoyed this table. Make sure to visit Susan and see all the other tables! :D Jewel
