Nothing Could Be Finer!

I don't know it for a fact, since I have lived in North Carolina my entire life, but the song says nothing could be finer! So, I set a table dedicated to my home state. I will be sharing this with Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch and Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life and Let's Dish at Cuisine Kathleen!
Our state flower is the dogwood, so I went to my yard and cut some flowering branches. Then I went next door and cut some yellow Carolina Jessamine, which is the state flower of our neighbor South Carolina, but since it grows here and has the name Carolina, I am claiming it for the day! Speaking of neighbors, we share the state flower of flowering dogwood with our neighboring state, Virginia.
We also share our state bird, the cardinal with Virginia and five other states. I believe it is the most popular state bird in the US. It adds a nice pop of red to my North Carolina table as a salt shaker, too! I added a pine cone pepper shaker, since the Pine Tree is our state tree.
Which leads me to the place setting. I chose my plates with pine cones and boughs and placed them on a ruffled light blue place mat. It is a shade of blue that we call "Carolina Blue" and is the official color of our oldest state university - the University of North Carolina. UNC or Carolina is the America's oldest public university.
I added touches of gold on the table because the first gold strike in the United States was in North Carolina at Reed Gold Mine. You can visit the mine now as one of NC's Historic Sites.
I hope you have enjoyed my North Carolina table!

Happy St. Patrick's Day with Kathleen!

Today and the rest of the week, we are celebrating St. Patrick's Day a bit early with a Blog Party at Cusine Kathleen! I will also be posting at Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life and Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch. Here is my St. Patrick's Day table!
As you can see, I started with a gold tablecloth and gold chargers and added gold rimmed stemware. I then placed green felt place mats on the golden chargers and couldn't bear to put plates on top! To this I added an orange napkin with a gold napkin ring and placed a wee Irish flag in each.
For my centerpiece, I used my gold ornament tree and hung it with glass ornament with an Irish flavor!
The mantle has an Irish theme -
as well as the tea cart!
And the St. Patrick's Day theme isn't just in the Dining Room! Here is a shot of my Billiards Room:
And in the foyer, there are some Derby hats and shamrock china.
In the sunroom, we can have some refreshments!
So in preparation for St. Patrick's Day, do you have a new something GREEN to wear? (Shameless Plug Alert!) How about a hat or fascinator from The Chapeau Chateau?
My daughter and I have been busy making Spring hats and fascinators! We are adding them to our Etsy site a few at a time, but have lots of sneak peeks on our Facebook Page! Please consider "LIKING" us on Facebook!!! We are also available for custom orders! Hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!!!!

For the Birds, Two!

The birds are really singing today, so I am sharing a table from last spring celebrating them. Can you believe Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday????!!!!
I am sharing this with Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch and Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life.
My table today is inspired by all the Spring birds!

I used a yellow table cloth with some pink chiffon as a "runner".

For each place setting I used a gold charger and Royal Doulton Canton china. I picked this out before I got married and I still love it! I used pink napkins with gold napkin rings. My flatware is Oneida Stainless Wordsworth and the stemware is Fostoria and gold glasses from TJ Maxx my daughters gave to me a few years ago. At each place I used a Bird Cage place card holder & tealight holder from Target.com.

For my centerpiece, I used a larger birdcage filled with flowers surrounded by the famous Target bird salt and pepper shakers and Bird tealight holders.

I put some pink chiffon on the mantle and a glass basket with pink flowers to coordinate.

I finally got my hanging shelf hung and filled it with Eater do-dads!

My wicker tea cart has some bunnies also!

Hope you are enjoying the Spring and the birds!
