Outdoor Tables - Camping Style

This week carolinajewel's table goes outdoors! Over Labor Day, my husband & I camped at Deep Creek Campground in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We had most of our meals outdoors whether picnicking or cooking at our campsite. Photobucket This was the view from Newfound Gap Overlook. Here is a shot through the hemlock trees of our picnic site at Chimney Picnic Area. Photobucket In such a setting any food tastes good! Photobucket We always use my red and white tablecloth that I ordered from The Vermont Country Store in the early 1980's. It has really held up well! And we got this picnic basket in the early 80's also. Photobucket Photobucket At night we had several candlelit dinners- A meal of bratwurst and German Potato Salad prepared over an open fire! Photobucket As you can see, Randy helped! Photobucket Photobucket We visited Cades Cove in the Park and saw a wild turkey and toured the preserved and operational grist mill. Photobucket Photobucket We had a great trip to officially end our summer! Now I am looking forward to gearing up for Fall Decorating! Two "plugs" before I go - Audrey Eclectic is having a wonderful give-away off her beautiful folk art at her blog! Please visit her here :AudreyEclectic. Photobucket Also - my daughter Emily and I have started a hat making business and Etsy Shop called The Chapeau Chateau. Emily started a blog about it here - TheChapeauChateau and you can visit our shop here The Chapeau Chateau. Lastly, I am linking to Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday!

  1. CJ, what a beautiful setting for a picnic! I use to live a hop, a skip and a jump from Vermont Country Store where I grew up in Vermont...love that place and visit whenever I go home.

  7. Congratulations on your new Etsy shop! I don't think I have ever visited an Etsy shop (I assume they are all online), so yours will be the first! The Chapeau Chateau will get a lot of business, I'll bet, especially around Easter and Mother's Day!!! Oooohhh...and Kentucky Derby time! North Carolina is so close to Kentucky!!! Hooray for you guys!!!

  13. Jewel, this looks like such a perfect picnic spot. Your food looks delicious, and why is it that food always tastes better in a beautiful outdoor setting? I think we have the same picnic basket, but it looks like yours is getting better use than mine. laurie

Thank you so much for all your comments! I really do treasure them all. If I don't respond to all of them immediately, it is because I work full time and share a computer at home. Thanks again!!!
